Star Wars Blue Ray Release advertising

I'm a huge fan of Star Wars (the classic series not that crap I, II, and III) The release of the old movies to blue ray has spawned some advertising around the world. I found a really inventive way that Lucas arts is pimping its product on the Japanese subways over at the official star wars blog. They covered the hand rails in the car with decals that look like light sabers, IMO this is a great way to advertise your product.

  1. I bet it confused the heck out of some old people who don't know what Star Wars is!

  2. That is awesome and I wish it happened here, but I'm not too happy about the blu-ray re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release. I heard he's changed yet more things. It's not the Star Wars I know and love, and even THAT wasn't the completely original version.

  4. @ Bersercules

    Define "old". ;)

The people who saw the original movies when they had their première are now 50+ yo.

  6. That's a brilliant idea. Not that I'd want to touch something as dirty as that. Maybe it's cleaner on the blade part, since people would be afraid to touch it there.

  7. Im sort of torn on the whole re-release thing, only because I know what it feels like to want to go back and change something you feel isn't perfect... But Vaders "NOOO!"? Like, seriously Lucas? Is that really making the movie better.

Oh well. I'll just stick to my dvd collection ;)
